The Internet has transformed the way Canadians connect, interact and consume. Canvassing the nation, Ipsos Reid delves into the ‘who, what and why’ of Internet and technology usage and attitudes among Canadians. The Ipsos Canadian Inter@ctive Reid Report has been tracking online behaviour and identifying trends since 1995, and is the longest running and most comprehensive, authoritative study of the Internet in Canada.

We track all standard Internet activities and move quickly to ensure we have baseline measures on up-and-coming issues. From social media to mobile advertising and apps, if it has happened online, it has been measured and written about in the Ipsos Canadian Inter@ctive Reid Report.

Offering a complete, in-depth perspective, the report helps subscribers stay in-the-know about the rapidly changing economic and social context of the Internet in Canada and understand how to connect with their target audiences.

Report Format

Our new Powerpoint reporting format includes:

  • Bi-monthly reports (6 reports/year).
  • Flexible, online reporting. Online reporting tools give subscribers flexibility and access to all reports, data tables, and questionnaires.

Research Methodology

Data is collected on a bi-monthly basis throughout the year. During each interviewing period we cover at least two in-depth subjects. A sample size of 800 Canadian Internet users — defined as adults who use the Internet for at least one hour per week — complete an online questionnaire.

Respondents are chosen randomly from Ipsos Reid’s Canadian Internet panel and the sample is balanced by region, age and gender to match characteristics of the Canadian population.

Special Feature Report Topics

Special Feature Reports provide in-depth coverage for a particular subject area. We cover a minimum of two topics per wave for a total of at least 12 per year. Here are examples of online topic areas from the past several years that we continue to track:

Report Access and Schedule

Reports are prepared six times a year based on the timeline below. Subscribers are emailed a notification when new reports are posted on the report website. Subscribers have exclusive access to the report website which includes online access to pre-2014 reports, questionnaires and data tables.
